Death of a Ghost Hunter

I just finished watching a movie about a ghost hunter that investigates the Masterson House. This is where some preacher abused girls to clear them of their sins until his wife killed him and their entire family one night. She then killed herself. Thus the need for an investigation.

Not a bad film at all.

This is a fun indy film for those of you who love the the horror genre. I had a good time watching the chick set up and explain the investigation to everyone in the house with her. I still think if you are a paranormal investigator and you use digital thermometers that measure surface temperature you are a quack. Think about it. Surface temps are going to differ. Enough digression.

The investigation leads into what they think is a residual haunting. Of course, I am still not convinced it was residual and I think the end shows that it was intelligent. I will not blow the end for you, though.

Technically the sound levels in this film are horrible at some points. I had to turn up the volume while one girl spoke and turn it down while they cut to an angle where the mic was actually in the right position. This was pretty much the only annoying tech part of this film. I liked the lighting and film work and I loved some of the special effects … especially the apparitions they caught on video. There is a scene where a chair moves by itself and it creeped me out because it was pretty bright in the room and you wouldn’t expect that kind of thing to happen in a lighted room in a movie like this.

If someone invites you over for a night of scariness and pulls out this movie, know that you won’t be overly scared but you will enjoy it.  By no means is this movie awesome, but it is fun to watch at least once.
